An introduction to the Hummus Bros delivery system

June 10th, 2010

Hummus where the heart is. Or where the office is. Or where the home is. So, if you live or work around one of our branches – chances are we can deliver straight to your door. Over the last year, we’ve designed an online ordering system specially for Hummus Bros, taking into account everything that our customers have told us. We think it’s great. Give it a go and give us your feedback!

So, over the next few weeks, we’ll be writing mini manuals on how to use this system. It’s pretty straightforward, but we wanted to show off some of the features. This week, it’s introduction week.

1. Log in to hbros.co.uk/deliveries and enter the postcode for delivery.
If you’re close to St Paul’s, Holborn or Soho – orders over £50 will be delivered free of charge. For smaller orders, a £6 delivery charge may apply.

2. Select a time and date.

3. Select whether you would like to place a Group order, or an individual order.

Individual order:
An individual order is straight forward. The order will be prepared and put in one bag (or box). Choose this option if you are ordering for 1 person, or a meeting/party where everything will be put on a table for everyone to help themselves.

Group order:
Choose Group order option if you are the person who is organizing an order for your desk/office. You will have to insert your credit card details later since you will be paying for the order. You will be asked to put a limit on the spend (since it’s you who is paying) to make sure no one goes crazy on your expense. Later on, you will be asked for the email addresses of all the other people who want to order, and they will receive a separate email with a link to the order. Each person will order what they like and receive a carrier bag with their name on it. Saves the confusion.

If you have selected a group order, the next page will ask you for some login details and password for yourself since you are the order “administrator” (you can set whatever you like, its for your use only). You will also be prompted to insert some caps on the group’s spending. This part is essential because it is your c/c that will be charged and we’re sure you don’t want any of your colleagues to order £1000 worth of food on your expense. Simply type in how many people you are inviting and the maximum spend per person. For example, if you type 10 people, with maximum spend of £10 per person, the system will limit your spend to £100 (excluding any delivery charges).

The next screen will give you 3 options for inviting your colleagues to add to the order:
- Type their email addresses in the box.
- cut/paste the manual link and email to your colleagues.
- Manual entry: Tell your colleagues to visit www.hbros.co.uk/deliveries and enter the order ID and password (these will be shown on this screen for convenience)

Finally, you can also include a message to your invitees, for e.g. “This is the order for hummus bros lunch for tomorrow (my birthday). Feel free to add to the order as I’m paying ;) ”. If you have entered their emails in the box provided, an email will be sent to those people with a link to place their order.

4. Ordering page: After selecting individual order, you will get to the food ordering page.

Simply select your dishes from the menu. Click “add” after inputting the number of desired dishes.

Look out for next week’s blog post: Customizing your hummus dish!

Hummus Bros FAQ & Hotline

May 27th, 2010

Over the years we have received a number of emails, tweets and letters (yes we still receive some snail mail!) from customers giving us feedback, asking us about our food, the concept, how we make our hummus, where we will be opening next, suggestions they would like to make for our menu…

We’ve put several of these questions together in an FAQ section (hbros.co.uk/faq) and also set up a hotline to answer any question you may have that is not answered in the FAQ. The hotline is available on Twitter (@hbros), through our website (hbros.co.uk/feedback) or by email (faq@hbros.co.uk).

We love the fact that our customers take the time to get in touch with us especially if it’s feedback (positive or negative) that helps us improve our food and the overall experience. So please – keep ‘em coming!

Interesting Nutritional Facts about the food at Hummus Bros

February 24th, 2010

Hummus Bros - Chickpeas

As we put together our nutritional information, we realized some pretty interesting facts about our food:

  • A regular portion of hummus with mixed vegetable salad and carrot sticks substituted for pitta bread will give you 4 of your 5 portions of fruit and vegetable for the day.
  • A regular portion of hummus with the beef topping, 2 pitta breads and a hard boiled egg contains close to 65 grams of protein.
  • Chickpeas – the main ingredient of hummus – are low in saturated fat, and very low in cholesterol and sodium. They are also a good source of dietary fibre, protein and copper, and a very good source of folate and manganese.
  • Fresh lemon juice – found in many of our dishes – is very low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium. It is also a good source of folate and potassium, and a very good source of vitamin C.
  • A diet rich in whole grains has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and some forms of cancer. Whole-grain diets also improve bowel health; they help maintain regular bowel movements and promote growth of healthy bacteria in the colon.

What was said:

By email
“There’s no such thing as a free lunch” is what the words of wisdom have long echoed – but today you’ve contradicted this old saying which has further resonated with “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is!”. …You guys did it – we proved there is such a thing as a FREE LUNCH! I fear the ‘catch’ was that my local HB will turn in to a guilty (too regular) pleasure!

On Twitter
“Free guacamole hummus from hummus bros is DELICIOUS! London, you do food well.” Follow us @hbros.

Press
“Hummus Brothers, the sleekest and [...] the best hummus joint in London, is bringing some of its legumous love to Cheapside. It opened with a splash on Friday, having offered 4.5million to the City of London for permission to remodel St Paul’s dome as a chickpea. Sadly the bid was refused, but the restaurant has opened nevertheless and is turning out its delicious, silky smooth hummus.” Check out the press coverage we’ve received hbros.co.uk/press
